Welcome to The Conversation Station, where we help you acquire and/or polish your conversational ability.

Join at a level that's appropriate for you*. Those who have recently had at least 3 years of high school Spanish study, 3 semesters of college study, or the equivalent, will get the most benefit from the program.

Separate groups are being formed for high school students, college students on summer vacation, and adults. The Conversation Station hosts club meetings in the Cleveland, OH area and the D.C. area.

We start with a phone interview (in Spanish). Why? Have you ever tried to converse with someone who was either much more advanced than you, or just starting out? The experience was frustrating, wasn't it? We will ensure that each conversation group has a similar level of fluency so you can get appropriate practice.

You have great interest in actually conversing, but struggle to find the right words. You may have found some native speakers with whom to practice, only to learn that they don’t always have the patience to wait while you construct your sentences. This group will engage in structured conversations, reflecting the members' interests.

¡Conversamos con gusto!
You can already maintain a conversation in Spanish, although perhaps not with perfect grammar, nor at lightning speed. You have trouble finding people at your proficiency level to challenge you, and really want to increase the ease with which you speak Spanish. This group will enjoy wider-ranging, extemporaneous conversation on a variety of topics that are of interest to the members.
